How to transition from house to an RV?
We lived tiny, and it was our dream! We lived our dream, and I want to share the process with you, because you are probably here wanting to know the how, what, when, where, and so on about living tiny. So, we are going to deep dive into 4 ways to make transitioning from a home to an RV easier.

We moved tiny to save money.
We were both paying rent that was sky high for us at the time. I was paying $950 plus utilities and with the vaulted ceiling it could get costly. My hubby was paying $925 for a 2 bedroom home. (which now in 2024, that is cheap, but back in 2019 that was a different story!) We were both paying pretty hefty rent. What I loved about the home my husband lived in — it had an open floor plan with the couch and kitchen. What I didn’t like — it had a small bathroom. We joke the small bathroom was just getting us ready to live tiny.
Our previous living was preparing us for our future. Look at areas that are getting you ready for your adjustment.
You will want to sell almost everything you have, which is how you will pile up money. Put this money into a savings account. We made a lot of money about $3,000 with both of our stuff. We would have made more, but by the end of the selling process I personally gave up trying to “meet” with people because they will flake on you! Just forewarning!
My entire apartment I gave away, plus all the furniture, for a really good deal to who took over my lease. She was in college, and I had a servants heart of gladness. I am glad I did because she was so appreciative of it, and it made it easier for us!
Giving your stuff away isn’t a bad thing; you will be blessed in the future for it!
Adjustments made, yes, we did. I could have been stressed about selling every little thing, but I didn’t. We gave a lot away too! It is really your call. It will feel good to downsize, which brings me to the next point.
People think it is easy to just move tiny like a drop of a hat, but it isn’t.
Personally, the move to tiny living wasn’t a big deal for me because I had moved across the country with only the items in my 2 door cobalt plus my mom traveled with me so it was only the items I could fit in the trunk and backseat. I lived in a bedroom for 2 years and the one house I rented from the bedroom was smaller than our bedroom now in the RV. I always said, “I only sleep in the room so it doesn’t matter.”
For my hubby, he is over 6 ft, but enjoys the space.

We keep it tidy because its so small.
I throw on the ground (Hehe — my hubby’s pet peeve of mine) I have always done this my entire life. I used to have a butterfly chair when I was growing up it was my catch all, then when I spoiled myself with living by myself the clothes would go on the floor, closet, wherever they decided to go until I had guests over then I would hurry up and pick it all up. Well today have a little side part of my bed and that’s where all my clothes go because you never know if you’re going to wear it again you don’t want to throw it in the dirty laundry because you can still wear it!
We both wanted to travel the states and living tiny has given us this opportunity. We have traveled so many places and the bonus of it we haven’t had to pack any clothes. We just pack up the house and leave. Sometimes it’s last minute too!
Tom wanted to live in a van. I wanted to live in a tiny home from HGTV. We compromised and chose a 32 foot RV. Space for the 2 dogs and the baby, Ember, which brings me to the remodel!
We upgraded our dinnette to fit our needs. You can do the same thing in your RV, so many people to follow on instagram who can give you inspiration. People are paying big bucks for remodeled RV’s so might as well make it yours.
Dinnette conversion
The project to convert the dinnette to more of an open space was because I was pregnant soon after we got married. We needed additional space and we weren’t a fan of the dinnette even though it was storage!
Project tips
Project lessons
We learned from the project that their is always going to be additional cost because things just come up.
Cost for remodel
Overall, we paid around $100 for the project.

Did your parents or school talk about money in your life? If not, this is a totally NORMAL question to ask.
When should I first start to budget?
Today, especially if it is before the beginning of the next month or your next paycheck. It is PERFECT! This is a great time to start because a budget is all about planning and planning where your money goes.
It is just like telling your kids what to do and telling your friends what you are doing for the week.
Tell your money where it is going and do not let it tell you that it is going to fees, late payments, huge loan rates, etc.
You can make adjustments to your budget — you should to be honest. Life happens and things need to change throughout the month.

10 Things We Took Off our Grocery List to Save Thousands! Of course while living tiny!
Get our FREE meal planning menu! It has saved us over $100 per week too!

Instead of buying soda and bottled water, we actually bought ourselves each a water bottle to refill with our tap water. If we decide to have something other than water, we will buy the box of 10 flavor packets to turn our water into tea, lemonade, etc. Buying a 12 pack of soda can a week can cost over $285 a year vs buying flavor packets for only $61 per year.
Chips are often a big buy for many households including ours, but we shy away from them because a bag of chips for $3.99 can add up especially if they are snacked on daily. This can add up to over $200 a year if you buy them each week!
Brand name items…you want to know something funny, we used to switch the ketchup and ranch. What we would do was save the name brand bottle and place the store brand product in the bottle to fool people it was the name brand item! They never even knew that it was not the brand name product! Give it a try! This can save you a little $2 – $4 each time you buy it.
Often in our household, we use regular bread for everything we eat from hotdogs to BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and hamburgers. Why spend an extra $1.50 each week when most of the time the rolls and buns go bad and have mold on them by the time you get them out of the cupboard again.
Hungry man $3.50 a meal! This is a lot and if you are feeding a family with these…that can add up! Think about it this way buy 4 a week for your family of 4. $728 a year for those individual meals! Why not spend that making a homecooked meal of spaghetti and meatballs or chicken, veggies, and potato? It is call convenience, but we have to find ways to save money right now.
Deli salads, these are marked up a lot! Being in the retail business, I know. Just do not buy them. End of story. Same with rotisserie chicken – we used to do contests on these to grow our gross profit. Please stay away if you are trying to save money! I know what you are saying to me, but they are so quick and easy after work when I do not feel like cooking. Well, meal plan and cook all your chicken in 1 night for the entire week and then you can just warm it up in the microwave and wow its done. We do this often! We cook our entire family pack of chicken in the crock pot on low all day and bam we have chicken for 3 nights!
Individual yogurts, yes these are delicious and healthy but if you buy 7 each week. Here is the savings on this… are you ready? Plain old Yoplait $218 in savings and if you like Chobani $487 in savings!
I don’t know about you, but in our house hold tacos are a staple. We usually have some kind of tacos each week whether it is tacos in a pasta shell, beef tacos, chicken tacos, or pork tacos. We do not even bother buying the individual packs of taco seasoning because that would cost us $51 per year for a 1.5 oz packet on our weekly budget and we spend $6.99 for a 21 oz container. This is a savings of $34 per year! Small wins here my friend!
Eat everything you have before going shopping at the store.
This means…
I always packed my lunch for work and then when I became pregnant. I could not eat sandwiches anymore, so often I would take the left overs from the night before and eat them for lunch. Now, both my husband and I do this since I stay home.
It is easy and saves you money!!
Actually the other night, we used our left over corn, chicken breast, and salsa and made chicken tacos plus we had a can of refried beans and this was our dinner! Cost = $0.00 we had everything already at home. We made our 7 meals into 8 meals!
We are actually turning our 7 meals into 9 meals because another leftover we have is chili and we are going to poor this over some rice and have chili rice!
Little things make a big deal!

Medical bills can hit anyone unexpectedly especially if someone gets an illness unexpectedly, has a baby and did not plan for it financially, or gets in an accident that wasn’t your fault. However if you have medical bills you are able to get out of the medical bill debt, but how? Let us tell you a few tips and tricks to work with the doctors, hospitals, etc to help you pay off medical bills!
Negotiation
Did we say negotiate? Yes, we did because the hospital wants to get paid. They will negotiate with you! Call the financial department at the hospital and see what payment plan they can do for you so you are able to afford the medical bill. Realistically you will have to pay the medical bill in full, but they will work with you and you will be able to negotiate a reasonable payment for you to pay your bill while not getting behind on other bills. Some hospitals will have you show them how you will make it work and what your plan is to make sure their hospital bill is at the top priority.
Ask for a discount
Most hospitals will give you a discount if you pay your bill in full before you get discharged. We saved 20% by paying our baby hospital bill before we were discharged. It was almost a $1,000 in savings by doing this. To be honest, I did not know this was possible before going to this hospital, but it makes total sense! Hospitals want their payment just like any other business. They are willing to give a discount to get the full payment days before you leave. Even if you have already left, call the financial department and see if they will give you a discount if you pay the bill 100% that day. It is worth asking some hospitals will do it!
If you do pay the hospital before discharge, note that you will still pry get a bill sent to your home. Be sure to call the insurance company and have them call the hospital to ensure everything was processed correctly. We had this happen where we paid over $3,000 at the hospital, and then received a bill for around the same amount 4 weeks later after we left the hospital. We do not want you to double pay! 🙂
Ask for a bill breakdown
Found a mistake in your grocery receipt, because you were charged too much for an item like a box of cereal, cheese, piece of meat, or vegetable. This can happen in your medical bill too, because we are human completing the job. Just like a person changing the tags in the grocery store and makes a mistake on pricing. It can happen in the hospital field as well, even though you do not want to believe it. There are over 80% of errors on medical billing. How can there be errors? The nurse inputs the incorrect medicine they gave, the doctor slates for an MIR, but it reads as a CAT scan instead, or even you asked for an epidural so it is in your chart and you did not receive one. There can be errors because they are human, so before you pay your medical bill ask for a bill breakdown and check for billing mistakes.
Double check your Insurance
Revisit your insurance to ensure you received the full benefit. You want to make sure the hospital bill went through your insurance correctly, and if it did not you can call the insurance company and ask to get it corrected. Most likely, you will get denied the first time so make sure you fight it. Just like I mentioned earlier about human errors at the grocery store or hospital, well insurance companies can make human errors too and cause your bill to be incorrect thus making you pay more to the hospital.
Financial Assistance
Find out if the hospital you attended gives financial assistance, most hospitals will offer this option. It is similar to financial aid assistance for college and many hospitals do offer it. You just have to ask!

Credit Cards
This is not a way to get yourself out of medical bills. Why not? Most credit cards have a huge interest rate, and why would you transfer one debt to another? That is not smart — just call and ask for one of the other options mentioned above. Please do not pay with a credit card your hospital bills, unless you pay it off 100% to get points or cash back.
Lastly, you do not want to ignore your hospital bills. They will go to collection agency and this will then cause people to call you to pay off your bills.
If you want to budget and track your medical expenses yearly. You should purchase the yearly bullet budget tracker this has 4 different areas of the bullet budget tracker. To get yours now and use it to help pay your medical bills, click here.

Kids learn almost every day and they learn from their parents, which is why it is important for you to have good money habits. However, if you do not don’t worry. You can still teach kids good money habits while getting out of debt or cleaning up your own financials. We have 10 steps to cleanse your budget. I actually learned good money habits along my journey of life and it started while I was a kid at home. I learned the responsibilities through chores. We got money for special occasions like birthdays, tooth fairy, Christmas, and Easter. I learned most of my money skills when I was in high school and college when my parents divorced. I had to figure out how to pay for things on my own while going to school and playing sports. I worked hard and earned money, and I am sure you are doing the same!

But enough about me. Let’s go on and learn about the 15 things you want to teach your kids to be better with money in their future. To make the right decision about money and not go into debt. If you instill these 15 things, you will be giving your child a better life and make them feel on top of the world. Let’s go make them feel on top of the world!
The first one is encouraging your child to do chores around the home at an early age. Yes, when I was little I had chores. To this day, I still make my bed every day! There are sometimes when I go home that I choose not to make my bed because I know my mom will spoil me! A secret too – I even make the bed at the hotel – I know, I know what you are thinking…like really? The maid will take the sheets off anyways and clean them! I guess my mom was just that good at telling us to make our bed.
You can teach your kids good money habits with chores. For each chore, you can give them a token. Your “token” or money can be whatever you would like. If they are young, you can use coins (nickel, dimes, quarters) whatever you have around your home. If they are older, I would use more dollar bills (quarters, ones and fives). This way whenever they do a chore or chores you can reward them with an “income.” Just like at work. Teaching them that chores come with responsibilities just like adults where they earn an income too.

While your kids earn an “income” with chores. They can learn how to split their money and budget it as well. You want to teach them the concept of giving a bit of their earnings. Ask them why they should give. Show them it feels good plus the benefit that good things will come back to them. Take them somewhere to give their money. We will talk more about this in the next point. Also teach them to save up for certain things such as toys, activities, and camps. Hello! Parents you can use this to your advantage! Think about while you’re at the grocery store and they say, “I want a piece of candy!” You can then say, “Okay, you can spend your money on it if you would like.” It will give them a different perspective! Which brings me to the spend portion! They will spend it on what they want and then also learn when the money is gone it is gone. They need to learn this in the home before they are adults and go into credit card debt, student loan debt, personal loan debt, etc. The key here is just the overview of when to budget. Let’s go more into depth in each area.

This is probably the best one of them all because when you teach them giving it puts the good into their soul. The world needs more good! I love when the news talks about the kids giving their money to people who need it more than they do. It means their parents did an amazing job raising them! If I were to bet, God rewards them even more after they do this. This is just the beginning of them learning about faith and that they will feel the grace God gives us.
How to teach giving? Show them you give. I remember my parents always placing a check into the church offering plate. Once we got older they would let us take the check and put the check into it! Even though it was not my personal money then it still stuck to me and we give monthly. It is the first thing we budget in our budget just as the word says.
Proverbs 3:9 Honor the Lord with your possessions and with the first produce of your entire harvest.
Most people do not know how to save. They just spend all their money, so this is huge to teach your kids to save early. Teaching them to save up for what they want instead of just buying it for them. Savings allows them to feel thankfulness when they save up for their big toy and they can feel proud of it! It is irreplaceable!
You can teach this by having them go to a bank and interact with a banker to open their savings account. I remember my parents doing this with me, and it is probably why I am such a huge saver!

Spending allows them to know they can only spend so much. If they do not have the money they cannot spend it. Goes along with teaching them that you as a parent aren’t their bank and all their money. They have to work for their money.
Being able to manage their money will be with them forever. It will go into their single years in college, their marriage, and until they die. I always think that it is a good asset to teach your kids money management while they are under your roof. It is similar to they way you raise them on other things like good manners and having an education.
You can have them help you with certain parts of the budget to manage money in the household. Such as the grocery budget. Start with a meal plan, have them come up with the items you need for the house, and then take them to the store to pick it out, then have them do the interaction with the cashier.
There are a bunch of books out there for kids. I will name a few. Just a piggy bank by Gina and Mercer Mayer, Lemonade in Winter y Emily Jenkins, Earn It! A Moneybunny book, and Spend it! A Money bunny book.
Who’s parents used to tell them this line? My dad used to always tell me this, but I did not listen.
Creating a sense of knowledge around where money comes from is important. Explaining to the kids you must work for the money by doing things around the house to earn money. This way they understand money does not grow, but it is earned.
This is also a good thing to teach them as they get older to learn how they are going to pay for college and their first car. Teaching them they should pay for their way to college instead of taking out students loans, and same for a car.

Kids learn they must work hard to earn the money. When kids do the dirty work it makes them feel better. It makes them have an urge to do more and complete more around the home to earn more money to buy other items.
I remember when I was little I used to work on the farm at my friends house. We did this for free, but imagine how much more they would have gotten out of us if we would have been paid a $1!
Dreaming is good and it is a basic life skill.
In our life, we have always dreamed of a career and we must do good at that career. Let them see the possibilities are endless! When they work hard, they dream, and they earn an “income” or money.
Ask them how they want to earn money when they are adults.
Download our monthly tracker for free.
Practicing how to deal with money while they are still under your roof is a key to get them to have good habits out of their home. I remember my mom telling me she did good raising us 2 girls because we have a good roof over our head and food to eat, we believe in God, and we seek and love our family. I agree!
Now when I raise my family I want these four things for my kids. God, family, enjoy the journey, and how to make money work for you rather than against you. Teaching them the principal of money and knowing you cannot spend more than you make. To not be a slave to the lender because that is what God wants for us.
Practicing money skills is just like practicing hitting a baseball. You go to hitting practice over and over again to get better and better!
Kids want to feel good, and earning money does that! I remember going to my sisters house and my niece showing me her money she earned! She was so excited even if it was a few coins. I was so excited for her I took photos of her next to her chore chart and gave her a big hug!

These are the feelings you want them to remember.
As long as kids continuously sees they are doing better and better each month with their money is the key. They do not have to be rich by the time they leave your home at 18, but they need to know that they did the best they could.
Learning you can always do better and learn from others. I always tell people you need a mentor whether it is a money mentor, life mentor, or school mentor.
Life is a journey!
Teaching them the value of money and if you spend all you have then you are out of luck until the next pay day comes. They can work for more money, but they will still have to wait for the money.
Teaching them also you do not want to do a payday loan because when they really get paid they will not get the full amount of money, but half of it because of the “interest” of their loan. Discussing what interest is and how it can be good and bad.
The best one for last is not everything in life is fair. Maybe your kids want a bike, a hot wheels car, and a new lego set. They only have enough money for the bike or the hot wheels car and the lego set. They could get 2 for the price of 1, but they cannot get all three until they save up more.
Like it, if you agree to teach your kids good money habits while they are at home.
Share with other parents to reach more and help the future generations, pin it!
There is still time to make memories so teach your kids, pin it to remember in the future!

Many people place them in fridge or put them next to banana’s, but do not do this. We will tell you that when you keep them out on the counter and not place them in the fridge they will last longer. Also, if you have plenty of tomatoes be sure to go through your produce and use the ones that ripe the fastest. If you have one bad tomato, it will make all of the other tomatoes bad faster too! Keep them separate!
This one is one my mother taught me. Keep your potatoes in a dark place to help them not grow eyes. You can usually have a bag of potatoes for several weeks. It is best to keep them in the dark because that is how they grow too. They grow in the ground where it is dark and cool. So that is the other hint, make sure you keep them in a cool place.
Don’t go throwing any grapes away! These should be kept in the fridge all the time, and wash them as you go. Don’t wash them right at the beginning when you get them. They will ripe even faster and you don’t want that! You will want to make sure you check daily when you are eating them and remove any of the bad ones. Like the tomatoes, bad ones produce more bad grapes! If your grapes are starting to get too ripe for you, place your grapes in the freezer for a nice cool snack and they will last forever and you won’t have to waste them.
Any kind of berries remove any of the bad ones! This is the key to keep them fresh the longest. Of course, you will want to keep them in the refrigerator too. Washing your berries does cause them to breakdown faster, so avoid doing them to keep them fresher longer. The water is what cause them to grow the mold so try to avoid the moisture area of your refrigeration.
Buy blueberries when they are on sale and freeze them! You will save money plus have a tasty snack later when the price rises.
Ever go to the store to find either really ripe bananas or really green bananas? This is because of the gas they release called ethene. It breaks down the cell walls. Don’t cover your bananas because this will cause them to ripen faster keeping all the gas close by the bananas. If one banana tends to get ripe eat that banana or remove it from the others. This way your other bananas will last longer because they are not receiving the ethene from the other bananas causing it to ripen faster.

Your salad is precious and maybe you are trying to eat healthier before the holiday season? Well, you can place the salad in water to keep it hydrated and it will keep it fresher longer. The worst is when you want to go have a salad four days after buying it and it is brown or starting to have a red color to it. Give it a water soaking bath to keep fresh!
Celery is a great snack. You will want to place the celery in water to keep it hydrated. Try not to cut it until you need it. When you do cut it, it has less life and will wilt faster. If you do have celery that is not as fresh as you would like it to be for a snack, go ahead and cook it up and use it in a stew. It will allow you to use it in a different way and that way you won’t waste it!
You often see apples in a fruit basket, but the best way to keep apples the freshest is placing them in the refrigerator. The crisper drawer is the place you want to have your apples!
Keep those good old oranges in the refrigerator and they can be kept fresh for several weeks! If you keep them in your fruit basket too they usually are only taste for a couple of days. You also don’t want your fruit basket near the stove because this tends to make fruits and veggies go bad quicker as well from the heat.
You want to buy avocados, but want it for week two of groceries instead of week one? Then you should place the avocados in the refrigerator it will give it an extra week of life! Leaving them on the shelf or your fruit basket, you will need to eat it in a few days.
You learned a few things about how to keep your produce freshest to save you some money. You will thank yourself for learning these tips while buying groceries. When we learned these tips, it made a life of a difference for our grocery bill!

Have you felt out of balance with your budget? Let us show you ways you can be intentional with your budget and embrace your budget.
As humans, we love to criticize ourselves and look at what we are doing wrong. We love to bring ourselves down. Instead, give yourself credit for what you are doing good at in your budget. What do you thrive in?
Whether you are good at grocery shopping or not, you can make the ability to improve and get better. Lean into the areas where you need others to give you confidence. Maybe you thrive at being creative with the kids and help them remember the fun times you had making crazy crafts out of things around the house rather than throwing another episode of a show on. When you are feeling frustrated bring your mind to the things you do well at around your home.
Failures are good. Failures help you better yourself. It gives you the angel of a new prospective and ways to pivot your life. Try not to think of struggles as failures because they are not. If you struggle at sticking to the budget and “fail” each time on your shopping budget.
Look at it from a different point of view, instead of thinking I cannot believe I went over my budget again! Turn it into I know I went over, but what can I change in my ways to make it better next month? Let me figure out why I went over? Was it an emotional shopping trip? Was it a just because trip? Was it because I was bored so I needed to find something to do? Figure out ways to get to the deeper root of why you went over the budget. This is known to help you solve it rather than just being upset at yourself to going over.
Math has one answer. 1 + 1 = 2. Nothing else. That is why when you do your budget you have to come up with creative ways to make your budget work for you. Taking back to school cloth shopping for example, you set a budget for $100. There is 100 dollar bills you get to spend, right? But the way you spend them can be different. Solving your problem of getting the most clothes out of $100. We often need to think of ways we can be effective with the amount we gave ourselves in our budget. We could blow it on one pair of shoes for $99 or we could take a different route. Look at it from a different point of view, maybe you’re not a frugal shopper, but you really need to stretch this $100 now. You find fun ways to stretch the $100 before you leave the house to get the biggest bang for your buck! How you manage to solve your budget problems with create fun ways will be lasting memories for you and your family.
Do you love to be the funny one in your family? Create a funny budget for your family. Who says your mortgage has to say “mortgage”. Instead it can say, “Clown house” you and your family knows what it means in your budget. You don’t both share the love for creating a budget and sticking to it? Find out what each other enjoy and do that. Your spouse spends all the money at the grocery store, but they love to go on hikes? Make a new tradition of making a good old fashion grocery list together while you are on a hike. They love to hike and you love to stick to the budget. Then when they go to the grocery store they have the list and the remember their hike that they enjoyed as a family. It doesn’t matter if it does not happen every week, but it improves 2 of the 4 weeks you go to the store. You are making progress!
In this day and age it is so easy to compare our lives to others, and that is not what it should be like. Social media makes it way to easy to compare, but note that not all social media is true. Not many people know this, but now I am going to tell the entire world…we went through a miscarriage and to be honest it is/was so easy to hind it. I really did not even need to tell my family because no one knew I was pregnant. Only my husband knew, and I am very good at going to God first with my problems. That is how I am able to be such a positive uplifting person. So on the outside that week, my life looked fun, adventurous, and outstanding, but in the instead my heart was broken, I was sad, and hurting. So no matter what your friends have in their life. In their budget, know that no two budgets are the same. No two lifes are the same. God makes our path of life all different for reasons because we all have different purposes here on heart.
Learning and developing yourself along the way is a huge part of budgeting. Budget change dramatically over time. Maybe you are single and budgeting by yourself, learning what you can afford and what you cannot afford. Now maybe your in a family budget with a spouse and a baby or kids learning what you needed verse what can wait until next month. Or maybe your retired and are trying to learn in your budget how to strength the dollars you have saved up for retirement. Making sure that you do not pull your money from your retirement when the market has crashed. It means instead of resisting the changes to embrace the changes and love each moment of your budget.
Celebrate your good moments, and use them as bridge to get to the next level in the game of life.

Do you dream of living your retirement traveling or not having to work the rest of your life? I am sure you do! Many people do! We did! If you want to be successful in your retirement we have something just for you! As I am writing this, experts say that we are at the beginning of a bull market, which is a great time to start investing if you haven’t started. If you have started, keep going. Are you hungry for more? We want to share with you 4 top questions about retirement that could save you and help you reach your dreams.
Let’s talk about retirement for a moment…
It is so important whether you are 20, 30, 40, or 50 years old to be thinking about retirement.
Investing is important to grow your money and eventually it will double over-time and then triple! Especially if you do not touch it.
Please, please do not take out of your retirement to live your dream! For us to live tiny full-time, we did not take out of our retirement. We lived on less than $30,000 a year and were debt free before we did that lifestyle for almost 5 years. It was a great journey and experience and I cannot wait to do it again when we retire — my dream then is to have a Class A Tiffin (A really expensive, top of a line motorhome)!
We did not take out of our retirement to do that to live this lifestyle! We actually did these things:
Personally, we invested as soon as I knew that time worked magic for your money. I started investing my sophomore year of college in a Roth IRA, my first career, I opened up a 401k with them and a health saving account to start investing, and yes time has been working for us. My husband started investing the year we got together in his 401k and in his health savings account.
If you are still in debt, I would figure out a way to place a portion of your money in your budget to invest. You should start with your employer and find out if they have a match and take full advantage of it! Next, look into a Roth IRA, IRA, and a Health Savings Account (an account associated with a high deductible health plan).
Yes, you should!!!
You should see what your money can do — even we have used a financial advisor. It is always good to have someone on the outside of your household to look inside your finances to see if you can do better or what they recommend taking your money to the next level. Unless you are a professional money expert, you should hire someone to handle your money.
Again, we have had financial advisors look over our money and I am a money/budget expert. They all tell me, “Wow! You are in excellent shape at your age. Keep doing what you are doing!” It is good to hear this confirmation from another professional with another set of eyes and viewpoint.
I humbly tell you this to encourage you! It is not too late to start or too early to start investing.
“A few seeds did fall on good ground where the plants grew and produced thirty or sixty or even a hundreds time as much as was scattered.” Mark 4:8
Plant your money where it can grow and outpace inflation.
A financial advisor helps you manage your investments and will receive a payment for their service. They look at all your money usually in buckets and evaluates your money situation. They will ask you everything from your debts to your assets. They think about your short term and long-term goals. They will help you grow your money and give you advice on where to place your money for your future.

The best way to find a great financial advisor is to start asking around to your family and friends. Most of the time you know someone who is a financial advisor who will treat you right and have the best of intention for you.
If you don’t feel comfortable asking around, we can help you! My cousin is a financial advisor and works with me and I would be happy to recommend him to any of my readers.
I hope this helps you in your investing adventures and looking for a financial advisor.

Don’t have a bunch of money to spend for the holiday? Why over think it with an expensive holiday to bust your budget? Here are 10 ways to save money plus things we learned during the 2020 quarantine- halloween!

Halloween might be different last year, and that’s okay. We learned from it to save extra money for the holiday. This entire year is normal and we are surviving little by little with pricing rising! Some say we might run out of candy, but Hershey says otherwise. Yes, we are including our quarantine-halloween in these hacks because we all need a little firecracker and we learned so much from 2020!
Make your Halloween from the items you have around the home. I know what you might be thinking, really? This is going to save me money? But it really does save you money!
Past customes we have done are…

This is huge and can save you so much money!
Kroger has a huge candy sale every year and you can stock up on candy that you are handing out! (If you were following us on Instagram we share when the deals happen since we worked for retail for over 10+ years!) You can save so much money doing it this way!
Other big stores who have mega candy sales too CVS, RiteAid, and Walgreens. Shop around and find the best deals! Apps make this so easy to do so now! We use the Flipp App to find money saving deals!
What we learned during quarantine -halloween: You want to still stay away from people? Use a pcp pipe as your candy deliver or something that is long that can slide candy down it! It makes it fun for the kids too. Decorate it and have fun with it!

Thifting is so much fun for each holiday change out, but even more fun for the fall holidays. Go to your local thift shop (goodwill, thift world, etc) find decorations to make your home feel like Halloween! This gives your atmosphere a brand new look and helps you feel better too! While of course staying on a budget and not busting it!
Then when you either pack up the holiday items you bought or give them away you do not feel bad that you spent hundreds of dollars on just one season!
A small change like this is a perfect fit — the change of towels to fall color hand towels for the kitchen!

Apples, apples, apples!
They are the snack of the year!! They are often on sale since they are in prime season. Make them a fun snack with adding peanut butter, honey, or any other kind of dipping you can use.

You can even make it a fun halloween activity on a budget by going to an apple orchard supporting your local business. It is so fun and you do not need to feel left out of the fun fall festivity. It is budget friendly!
Have a yard?
Have a bonfire that you used all summer for your Halloween fun!
You are easily able to use what you have around the house to have a Halloween party! We love using pinterest to save money and have fun with our parties! I bet you have more things around the house than you think!
Halloween is not to scare the budget. It is the same day each season. Hopefully this season we do not get snowed out! I remember that one year we were snowed out of Halloween! They had to postpone it. We still went out for halloween last year around the block to people we knew. That’s why we added it this year to your money hacks for Halloween!

We love following dating divas on instagram for free printable ideas for the holidays! She makes dating your spouse fun and exciting! Even if you have found yourself in a boring relationship — you can spice it up! God wants you to have a great marriage because marriage is the best!
The news talked about how Halloween should be social distancing for children last year, so hey we learned some fun things that can be fun for kids while not missing out on the fun during 2020. That are still cool to do to save you money!

We all want to dress up and have fun, and well if you want to zoom your friends and family to show off our halloween outfit — you can! Call your friends via zoom to show off your halloween outfit. The plus side is we won’t have to worry about if it is too hot or too cold for halloween!
This is quite easy for us because our family lives in all different states, so we have found this to be a norm for each holiday. We all set a time and zoom to each other to catch up and see each other. This is good for an early halloween party or to show off your halloween outfit.
You will set up each room in your home to be a different “house”. Your kids will dress up and go from room to room and get the trick or treat experience. It will be an experience they will talk about for a life time! I still remember when Halloween was cancelled due to a snow storm.
By setting up each room as a different house, you can use different treats/candy for each “house”. You can have them create the doorbells out of paper and make a doorway sign for the doors. Be creative and have fun!
Haunted eggs find with candy!
Who says you cannot go trick or treating in your own yard?
Parents here we go put all your candy you bought on sale and reuse your Easter eggs. Pick out the eggs that are halloween colors and use them and hide them throughout the yard. You can do this during the early evening before it gets pitch dark out. How fun!
You could also buy a few glow in the dark sticks from the dollar store and hide them in the yard. It would be like ghost in the graveyard! Each color = a certain “bag/piece” of candy!
Now wasn’t that simply amazing halloween hacks for you budget? Halloween fun doesn’t have to bust your budget and you do not need to overthink it!
Have other Halloween hacks you have done? We would love to hear them – send them over to believeandbudget.com!
