1. Learn about finances

Often people say, “I wish they taught me about life and finances in high school.”  “I did not learn anything from my parents.”  “How do I even start?”  I suggest learning to increase your income by reading books and educating yourself now!!  “What? Really?” “Yes!” Do you dislike reading like I do?  I had an 7^th grade English teacher tell me I was not going to make it in the world because I disliked reading.  Anytime I had to read in class, I would refuse.   I would sit in the back when class first started and by the end of the school year.  They had assigned seats and made me sit right up front.  When I had someone, who told me I would not make it.  I made it a goal to become successful, but anyways back to reading or listening to books.

• Money Master The Game – Tony Robbins
• The Total Money Makeover – Dave Ramsey

Also, when you learn about finances. You will find money you did not know you had and it will increase your income! Trust us — we went from two incomes to only one. We cut out many things we did not “need” and have been able to successfully live off of one income, and still enjoying life!

2. Build your skills

Do not be afraid to apply for a job you do not fully qualify for.

While I was in high school and college, I worked for several jobs.  I was a cashier, a price adjuster, cut fruit in produce, stocked shelves, slices deli meat and cheeses, fried chicken, bartended, worked in a call center (worse job ever – but I built my communication and writing skills), and wellness instructor to inspire people.  

Once I graduated I built my skills learning benefits, recruiting, a leader of human resources and operations to learn to get an ROI. I was a coordinator of cash, e-commerce, and customer service to teach, coach, and enhance the business.  

Why does our generation not want to go up the corporate ladder?  

It may because we are here to live for the journey.  

Love what we do every day.  

I am not saying you will LOVE your job all the time, but always be willing to build who you are!  It will build your income. 

3. Start out with an Ohhh Sh** Fund.

Calm your emotions.

Become less worrisome.

Ever heard voices in your head say you cannot save?  You cannot increase your income?  

I want to tell you a little secret.  

It is your emotions telling you this, and with a little self-discipline you can save.  Think of it as going to the Gym in January, usually by mid-January every new member does not show up again. However, if they had self-discipline to go 3 or 4 times a week and planned it they would continue to go month after month. Here is what I want you to do I will give you 3 options on what might work for you depending on your type of learning skills. 

1. Apply for one-on-one coaching session with me to hear a plan on how we build a fund.  

2.  Download a specific printable to be your activity to help you grow your savings.

3. Read 5 Ways to Save for an Emergency Fund.

4. Find ways to cut your fixed expenses.

When you have a goal in mind, it allows your brain to come up with solutions on where you are able to cut out expenses.  What is your goal on your journey?  To retire early, to get married have kids, be debt free, live in a nice house, travel the world, or have expensive hand bags? Then think about your biggest expenses first.  Do you need to downsize, sell materialistic items, or move to a better cost of living?  Downsizing usually helps the fastest along with moving to a better cost of living.  Do not just sit and wait because it will make your situation worse.  

The best thing to remember is it is not forever.  

You may meet people along this next journey who make a difference in your life.   

5. Be friends with Everyone

Learn from friends.

People who are good with money; will talk about money on a daily basis.  They will ask you to go for activities that are free, find a cheap activity, or travel on a budget.  Ask any of my friends they know I talk about money and we travel on a budget.  They knew if there was a man in my life and was not financially set in a good way or wanted to be better; He would get pushed to the curb.  When I went on this date with someone who had a new hot rod car…all I could think about was how much he was in DEBT.  People who are not good with money and are on the “rat race” usually live a life they cannot afford. 

Be friends who are spenders, and learn from their mistakes. I have friends who are addicted to Amazon, and will buy something from Amazon each day. They have packages from Amazon daily coming to their house! And you know what, Amazon has prime marketing for these kind of people! (No pun intended!) They change your searches to entice you to spend money! If you are an Amaze Prime spender. Do what you need to do to stop buying from them by deleting the app. Delete your card from their website. Leave the items you want in the shopping cart and come back to it in a week! I bet you…you will not want that item! Well, that’s how I am at least, and its fun to be able to look back and be like really I wanted that?

Overall, you can increase your income when you put your mind to it.  Ask the Lord to raise your finances, ask him to show you the way, and yes he will increase your income.  You just have to have a little faith.

I remember asking the Lord to find me a career when I was without a job for 3 months and he did! The Lord does amazing things in your life when you just ask and believe. Let him into your life and show you how amazing he can be! Trust me – he will not disappoint!
