5 Ways To Bless Others

This post may contain affiliate links, and they are no cost to you!

This is the season to bless others with Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thanksgiving is all about being thankful and grateful for what you already have and Christmas is about giving and celebrating. Do you want to use your money to bless others? We love to bless others with our money and we want to share with you 5 ways we have seen in our own lives through us and through others. Let us share with you some of our favorite ways to bless others this season.

Did you know your money can be used as a blessing rather than a curse?

By making a meal for someone in need

We were able to see this when we were workcamping up in New Hampshire.  The campsite was flooded and with all the hard work the owners had did to ensure all the campers were safe and at a safe place (high ground).  The campers made a meal for the owners since they had be out managing the flood waters all day and night and trying to get the campsite back to normal. It was the thoughtfulness that went both ways that didn’t cost either of them that much.

By gifting something for others needs

We are so thankful that we met someone along the way to be able to gift us her old jewelry items for her business to use for our business.   She has been in business for 37 years and wants to help us. This is a blessing from above.

Buying a card from someone with words of encouragement

Who doesn’t love to receive a birthday card or something in the mail?  Flowers are a great one to surprise people with too! Flowers always bring joy to people. We love to even on the road traveling receive things.  My sister and her kids sent me this amazing book that is about making our tiny home a home and I am so thankful for it. It is something I needed in this season.

Buying dinner for someone who you go out to talk to give them hope and a friendship

We always love to buy dinner for our friends, but this time a new friend from church bought our breakfast and man were we thankful.  It made us right on budget that month plus we were able to be inspired before we left for our travels to know that this is really what God wanted us to go and do.

Even going out with friends for a lunch makes your day better and you get to talk to them to encourage and make them more joyful. It is amazing what a little lunch date can do!

Gifting your old car when you buy a new one or don’t need one

We have done this twice and it is the best feeling.  I gave my first car to my boyfriend at the time, and to see his reaction was delightful and made my heart fonder.  The second time we did this was when we were getting ready to go travel the country.  My father and mother-in-law were in an accident and totaled their car.  They needed a vehicle, but with the market everything was so high and low on inventory. We decided to give them our Subaru as a gift from us, and they were very grateful for it.

5 Ways to Save for the Holidays!

This post may contain affiliate links at no cost to you.

Has this year been a year or what? Let’s make the end of the year better than the middle of the year by saving for the holidays earlier than later. Come along with us as we share 7 ways to save for the holidays!

Holidays are always the best time of year. It is time to spend with family. Eat a lot of good food. Give gifts to your friends and family. Share blessings with each other. Be thankful and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ! Last holiday season was a little different since we had to be social distanced and not travel too far, but let’s dive into saving money for this holiday.

1. Set aside money now

It is still early and you can still set aside money now.  You have many weeks until Christmas! With each paycheck until Christmas you will want to make sure you set aside a little bit of money. $100 for 8 weeks is $800 spending! Too much? Slim it down. 25 slots to fill in make it $20 per Christmas decor equals $625.

2. Look for Deals

This is my favorite.

Looking for deals still may be a little different this year like last year as less people are buying a lot of items.  I want to share a few Instagram accounts with you that I follow that I love for a good deal or DIY.  @themoneysavingmom and @dayswithgrey.

Deals have even start earlier and earlier every year so start looking right when you read this article. The stores realize a lot of people are unemployed stilled, so they want to spread out the sale to allow for more time to shop. This also means that this helps you if you have not been affected by the pandemic last year or if you are employed.

Those emails you have been ignoring in your promo inbox. Now is the time to start looking at them for the holidays! Get the good deals and save money!!

Do not go too crazy though! Let’s stay within your means.

3. New year new goals! Try a new tradition! Only buying 4 items per child (Wear, Read, Need, Want)

My husband and I have agree’d we were going to do this.

Mostly for me, because as you will read later on. I am my mothers child and I do love to shop for my kid.  We are going to stick to this plan for spending.  4 presents. One to wear, one to read, one they need, and one item they say, “I want”. This way it stays controlled and not over do it. Because I don’t know about you, but I only remember a few of my gifts I received.  I do remember taking a photo of all the presents I got for Christmas and posting them on social media.  Does anyone else? Or was it just my small town?

4. Set a budget for each child and track spending

Setting a budget can help you save money! No more of the mindless spending for each kid or losing track of what you spent on which kid.  I know, my mom used to do this! We used to have huge a Christmas!  But when you budget and track it allows you to have a purpose and planning always makes for a great way to save money!

Talk to your spouse and agree on an amount you can afford to spend. If it is $100 per child, then it is $100. Not $105! Do not go over.

5. Use Christmas envelopes and keep the receipts in there

A perfect way to keep track of your Christmas spending and save money while doing it is to buy printable cash envelopes and use them to budget.  You are able to keep the receipts in the envelopes and when you need to return for a bigger or smaller size. Woohoo! All the receipts are right there! Double Whammy!

If it helps get an envelope you have around the house and put each kids name on a different envelope. When you buy something for one kid, place the receipt in the envelope and subtract from your budget. It will look a little like this.

Also, don’t let your kids find out that you do this either because they will be in your purse looking for what they got for Christmas! You could easily hide these envelopes somewhere and add to it once you get home.

I hide ours in our mail area, as no one ever looks where the bills are but me!

This way you will also have all the items together!

BONUS 6 and 7

6. Talk about giving instead of getting this Christmas

What a fun way to change the time of year!

Look to give to a local charity or give your time to a food bank.  There has been a lot that has happened these last couple of years, so why not give to those who are in need.  If you are in need, there are still ways to give your time and the items you can repurpose around your home like the sweater you have not worn for years.

I promise you, that when you give you will be happier! You will feel the joy from the people who you gave to and you will be more like Jesus!

7. Don’t do gifts at all — another virtual holiday?

I understand what you are all thinking when I say that, but really.  My sisters and I have done this for a decade now.  My older sister was in college and I was in high school, and my little sister was just getting into middle school. We decided to not give each other presents, but just to enjoy each other’s presence. Now, we all live in different states and instead of sending gifts still we Facetime each other and enjoy each other this way. This is a good virtual transition to make. Make small changes, of course.

This will help you in your budget if you have not planned for Christmas gifts.  We do not want you to buy gifts and put them on a credit card and not pay it 100% off even with a 0% interest offer! This includes after-pay, klarna, affirm, and shop. These are ways that you can pay in payments to not feel the hurt of the $100 you spend.

Enjoy these saving tips for your holiday. Let us know which one you will be doing this year!

Like this if you are going to use one of these tips to stay on budget.

How to Get Through the Rest of the Year To Set Myself Up for 2022?

This post may contain affiliate links, and they are no cost to you!

Are you in a really hard season right now? The pandemic feels like it still here, and most people often said let me just get through the summer and now summer is over and it is almost the new year!  We want you to set yourself up for a better year next year and we have just what you need something to energize you, give you hope, give you excitement, and so just sit right here and read!

Seasons change often they are different for other people and not everyone is in the same season at the same time, but during the recession many people are found themselves in the same situation, the winter, season.  The hard season, the I am so lost season, I do not know what to do season, the I am never going to make it season, but let me tell you I have been there!

It is hard, it is exhausting, and you just want normalcies back.

Control what you can

When life happens and you cannot control it, do not let yourself get all worked up.  Let it go and we know it is easier said than done, but we promise!  You will feel better!

If you were laid off, it is not your fault.

  • You are still a good employee.
  • You are still dedicated!
  • You still have achievements that make you, you!
  • You will be better for this season.

In the moment, it is hard.  It is not easy, but take it and learn new things.

Maybe, you became a stay at home mom like I did.  I never in a million years thought I would be stay at home mom.  I wanted to be the CEO of Kroger.  I wanted to be a millionaire. I wanted to be a successful women in the work force.  I am in the season with you, but I cannot control this season.  I have left it up to God.  I have asked for his path and to be content taking care of my little girl, Ember. I am a homemaker for this season. I am the fruit for our family.

You experienced kids at home doing virtual learning.  I didn’t know what that felt like, but I am sure it is hard.  It was not easy, and I hope you have found new things that you are able to control.

You can control where you do school.

You can control what else your kids learn – money, finances.

We love to follow on Instagram @kidmoneyacademy. You can search for a new normal for you.  Break that mindset that you cannot do it, because you can!  Some days are harder than others, but feel the accomplishment you have made since March!

Think of Giving as an Investment

It is a new viewpoint.  Do not skip over this point – you won’t want to miss it!

If you are tired of fighting and do not know where to go or what to do.  Have lost all hope this year. Try to take a new viewpoint on giving.  Think of it as an investment of your future.  Giving can be done by a bunch of different ways, time, money, stuff, etc. If you lost your job, while you are looking for a new job.  Try to invest your time helping out a neighbor or giving time to help out someone who needs it.  Block out a time – an hour a week – think of it as an hour wage ($10 an hour), but because you are not receiving pay.  You are giving your $10 to the community, to your neighbor, or to your friend.

The best part is the investment you put in is going to be multiplied and given 2x or even 3x!  That’s how God works even with time!

Say, you give when you are in need.  God might just give you an income that is 3X your original pay that you lost your job in the beginning! Can he really do that?  YES! I have seen it so much and it is a way to calm your storm.

We were hardcore failing at our budget the other month!

We did not know how we were $300 over our budget!  We had expenses come up we did not plan!

Guess who caught us?  God!

He moved miracles into our life!

How?

We work around the property to help our landlord out, and it is our time we are investing.  He “paid” us in reduce utilities only usually.  We had a credit built up, but thought it was for the winter.  Since utilities go up in the winter.  We were thinking okay we will get our budget back on track next month and make it work. Cut here. Cut there. Well, our landlord texted my husband, “You have $360 worth of credit of work.  You can apply it to this month rent if you want.”  We did not ask. We did not even think this would be an option!

That is how God works!  He makes things work that you never even think possible!

Our investment, time of work, into the mans property/land was tripled by $360 of rent being reduced!

Sometimes when you do not know how you will make it work.  Let it go and find out how you can give. Ask “Show me how I can give to you Lord!”

Establish new limits

This could be only allowing yourself an hour of mindless Instagram searching. My husband and I just agreed before coming together we did get on our phones before bed because we did not have each other next to us.  We used to talk on the phone until we fell asleep, but now we are just mindless scrolling.  Now, we learn to make each other a priority.  It is a new limit for us.

Block scheduling is also another new limit you could establish in your household to keep you on task.  This of course will look different for everyone, but seasons change and your schedule needs to change with it.  One schedule we have had to established in our household is our time we go and walk.  During the summer, we would wake up early and go before 9 AM because of the heat!  But as fall has hit us and winter is coming, we now go to usually later in the afternoon or during lunch time to avoid other people at the park. Our schedule matters to us and I block out time to walk because it makes me a better wife/parent/budgeter.  It allows me to have a positive mindset and have my time to think of new ideas to bring to you!

New limits of eating out.  Maybe you are on a new skinny budget.  You have to slim the eating out down.  Look at the positives of only going out to eat once a month.  You will lose weight!  Since meal planning, not going out all the time and drinking too much beer I have lost over 30 pounds! Oops! Sorry, folks I am from the Midwest and we like to enjoy a nice cold beer!

Enjoy your process

Since life is full of seasons and some season are harder than others.  Look at it this way, if you do not have a hard season how can you grow?  You grow when you have a hard season because most of the time you believe and your faith gets stronger because you do not know what to do.  You hang out and become better. So here until 2021 just enjoy the season you are in.

I am in the season of being a stay at home mom, and everyone tells me to enjoy this process and take it all in.  I am taking everyones advice even though it is simply hard for me.  I write daily to thank the lord. Thank you for this season in my life.  Thank you for growing me and building me up to be a great mother.

Find how you can enjoy where you are at right now whether that is taking a walk each day, a quiet time with your cup of coffee before everyone wakes up, or even staying up 30 minutes to be thankful what you did good that day.

How to Stop Emotional Shopping

This post may contain affiliate links, and they are no cost to you!

If you have an online shopping addiction, we have just what you need here.  There comes a point when you are just shopping out of emotion.  The feeling of depression, where you think you are broken, and you are in so much fear. You might just be swiping your card because it “makes you” feel better.  You feel like you cannot turn this around so lets just keep going. But let us share with you some hacks we have had clients tell us work when they are in a spiral of shopping addiction.

1. Track spending
We used a cute journal to track our spending when we first started our debt free journey.

It is scary at first.  We are not going to tell you that this one is easy.  It is not for many.  It is the fear you have been dreading. I know that you belong somewhere better in a better situation, so try it. Track all your spending for the last 3 months and see where you spent the money.

Ask yourself these questions:

What did I buy?

“I spent $215 at Target.”

  • What was this shopping trip of?
  • Why did I spend this much money?
  • Why did I need these items?
  • What could I have done?
  • Did I value this trip?
  • Do I value the items I bought?
  • Do they give me happiness?

Keep tracking.

List out all of your spending and the store you bought it from.

To make it easier for you.  You can buy our bullet budget journal to list out all of your spending. It will allow you to lay it all out.

2. Remove your card

Remove your card from any where online that you have it automatically at like Amazon or Wal-Mart or even your favorite clothing store. This extra step that it takes you to grab your card out of your purse or wallet is a good one to break a habit.  It will allow you to really think about your purchase. So remove your card from automatic on any retail store online or well Amazon.

“That extra step to have to grab my card helped me slow down my shopping.” – Client

3. Make a wish list
Purchase Wish List

This will teach you contentment.

People tell me making a wish list is the BEST thing they learn on their journey of financial freedom. They use our Wish List printable and write down all the items they want to buy that is over a limit they set.  We usually begin with $50, because $50 hurts when you spend it and you see it from your bank account.  If it is less or more for you, you make it personal for you.  What hurts when you see it in your bank account when you do not plan the purchase?  You will have to go the extra mile to really think about your purchases.

A great way to really teach yourself a new habit.  It is so good!

“He stayed where he was TWO MORE days…” – John 11:6

“…anyone who walks in the daytime will not stumble, for they see by this world’s light.” – John 11:9

This teaches us patience just like making a wish list for our purchases.

4. Keep your unused bank cards at home

Explore this way of action.  It makes it easier to not shopping so much. I did not believe it myself at first, but it really does work!  When I was trying to reduce my spending at Starbucks at work, I kept my card at home and brought my lunch.  I had no choice, but to eat my lunch and drink water.  This helps you if you do not have self-control and you have built a habit you are having a hard time to break.

The views you will see when you are tracking your spending for the month you do this are AMAZING!

You will not be losing.  You will be gaining big time!

5. Remove yourself from receiving sales notifications

You need something different?  Remove yourself from the situation.  Just like we remove ourselves from a fight or an argument. Remove yourself from the sales notifications you receive in your email.  This will help you not see the “BEST” sale or the “LAST” chance.

6. Self Talk

You might have or need to privately talk to yourself. Yes, I said it. Crazy talk to yourself to talk yourself out of it.

  • “I do not need this”.
  • “This is containable to not want this.”
  • “I am going to walk away from it.”

This is powerful!  This is called self-control.  This is building a great habit for you and whoever you are being an idol to.

7. Faith

Have faith that you can improve your online shopping.

You might have been running and running and thinking you cannot stop.  However, I know you can do it. I have seen people do anything.  Make small goals to achieve and have faith to do them.   The goals could be as small as. Spend $20 less than last week, and continue to spend $20 less, $40 less, then $40 less again. If you do not believe it, then you will keep failing. You will not make it.  But I am here to tell you.

“Faith and you will see the glory of God.” – John 11: 40

Skys the limit: Roth IRA BeNEFITS

This post may contain affiliate links, and they are no cost to you!

Saving money is important, but investing is even more important. You want to reap the benefits of interest that works for you rather than against you. Interest works against people with debt because it continually adds up, but when people invest it grows and grows for the good! Let us share with you the Roth IRA Benefits and why we have one and you should too!

1. Tax benefits

Money grows tax-free PLUS withdrawals are tax-free too

Meaning you pay your taxes today rather than later when you retire (makes sense since your making an income now!) You pay taxes at your current tax rate.

Why we love this?

We would rather pay taxes now because taxes are mostly likely rise and when we retire we do not want to pay taxes when we retire.

What does this mean?

You need to discover if the tax benefit is there for you too, but more than likely it is! You would want your tax bracket to be lower than it would be when you retire, and since we do not know what taxes will be like in the future. More than likely though they will continue to increase year after year.

2. Allows for easier early withdrawals

Since the withdrawals are tax free it allows for an easier process to get your money before the retirement age.

Don’t withdraw more than you put in, and be sure to know what the 5 year rule is which we will talk about below.

Why we love this?

It gives us more options and freedom! We will not take out of our Roth IRA, but it is an option for us if we ever needed to. We want this money to be there for us when we retire and we are not making an income, but for now we will keep our money growing and growing.

What does this mean?

People can take their Roth IRA money out for first home buyers up to $10,000 maximum currently, qualified educational expenses, qualified birth or adoption expenses, and a few more. This is before the age of 59 1/2, but you most have your account open for the 5 year rule. You must know that this is the money that is the original money as well and not the growth money. For example is you have $10,000 in the account, but $3,000 is interest. You would only be able to take $7,000 to avoid the penalties, and the government put penalties in place to help you avoid taking money out of your retirement account.

3. Allows your investments to grow longer

With compound interest, your investments continue to double over time and while your interest is making more money than you are actually putting in.

The limit is $6,000 this year in 2021 if you are under 50.

Here is the $6,000 each year. ($500 a month or $125 weekly)

Year 1: $6,319 (+$319)

Year 2: $12,975 (+$975)

Year 3: $19,984 (+$1,184)

Year 4: $27,366 (+$3,366)

Year 5: $35,141(+$5,141)

Why we love this?

Our money growing for us without us doing anything, but putting money in the account! Our money is working harder than we are currently, and this is good for the Lord! He wants us to be smart with our money and put it in places where it will invest and grow.

What does this mean?

If you are not already investing in a Roth IRA, what are you waiting for? You should be investing in a Roth IRA. It is not hard, and we even show you how to do it on our Instagram believeandbudget. We show you how to do it with Betterment and Betterment is so easy anyone can do it!

Things to Know
The 5 year rule

You must wait 5 years after you open your Roth IRA to withdraw your earnings tax free.

How do this rule work?  The 5 years does not start how you think it would.  It is the first day of the tax year for which you made a contribution, so that means if you make a contribution for 2020 when you file your 2020 taxes during 2021, your tax year starts in 2020 and the 5 year rule will end Jan. 1, 2025 instead of Jan. 1 2026. That is good because it really like 4 years instead of 5 years!

What if you want to get the money out before the 5 year rule?

You will be penalized, so just don’t. That is why it is there to save and invest! There are rules for penalty because they want to have people avoid that option.

The only exceptions are a few such as first-time home buyers, medical expenses, and qualified higher education expenses.  However, we believe, it is in your best interest to leave the money in the Roth to allow it to grow for the future!  You will thank yourself!

Maximum contributions

2021 –

Under 50 years old – $6,000

Over 50 years old – $7,000

  • Income Limit

2021 Tax Year

*these numbers are based on Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) *

Single Tax Filer

  • under $125k for full amount
  • over $140k to not qualify
  • in the middle of $125k – $140k partial

Married/ Filed Jointly

  • under $198k for full amount
  • over $208k to not qualify
  • in the middle of $198k – $208k partial

There are ways around this income limit with backdoor Roth IRA and a double backdoor Roth IRA.  Please discuss with a financial adviser and a tax professional.

The benefits of investing in a Roth IRA are huge, and one of things that we learned early. I did not know much about it before starting one. However, someone who knew more than me at the time told me to start, open one, and get investing so that is what I did. I am glad I did too! I did not wait and now our investments are growing and growing and are allowing us to live the dreams of our life. That can be the same for you too! You won’t know everything about investing on day one, but you can know the simple basics then you are golden. I know you learned a lot today and glad you took the time to read this because you are now know more than you did the day before. Continue to blossom and learn about investing!

5 Morning Routines for Success!!

This post may contain affiliate links, and they are no cost to you!

Have you ever met that one person who always has a smile on their face even when they are having a bad day? The world may have fell down around them, and they still find the positivity out of it. Many people tell me that this is me.  I am the best me all the time.  I strive to be happy every single moment.  I am the one who was in a financial mess and still lived on a sweet budget. I want to show you how to clear your financial mess and be happy with 5 morning routines for success!

Turn Positive Thoughts On

Before stepping out of bed, tell yourself it is going to be a great day!

This is very important!

If you do not do this the devil is going to ruin your day.  Let me show you what may happen…maybe your cup of coffee spills down your new shirt, you burn your hand on your straightener or you get stuck in traffic to find out you miss an important meeting.  Or maybe your baby wakes up cranky and you are continuing to have a downward spiral of meltdowns.

My spouse felt like he was just stuck in his career at one point, and could not move to another role or do anything more in his career. Have you ever felt like this?  I am sure you have; everyone has at one point in their life.   Let me show you what happens when you tell yourself it is going to be a great day!

Try this for 7 days…

Sing before getting out of bed, “It’s a great day to be alive when the sun still shining and I close my eyes.” by Travis Tritt. Let me tell you a little secret! You do not have to be good at singing. Talk yourself through it.  “It’s a great day to be alive when the sun still shining and I close my eyes.”  And again. “It’s a great day…” after a few days you will see a difference at work, in life, in your financial world, and be happier.

Pin for later

Truth was my spouse was about $700 away from paying off his 10 year loan in only 7 months. When he turned his thinking around to positive thoughts and by using the tools and resources and we provide them for you too! He has started seeing a difference in his job – he started TWO DAYS later in another location in multiple stores training people rather than in one store. It is a lateral move, but lateral moves help you move up.

How would you feel if you left your financial debt behind you because you started your day with positive thoughts and using helpful resources? Think about it — you can do it!

Read Daily Devotional

I don’t know about you, but I needed somewhere to go when I felt like the world was crushing down on me. When I felt like I just wanted to cry and nothing would get better.  This is when I found and turned to reading a daily devotional from Joyce Meyer every day. The first one I read was New Day, New You by Joyce Meye.

Joyce Meyer

This began building my relationship with God.  I go to him even when I don’t know what to say and say out loud, “Please, help me.”  In Matthew 11:28 Jesus said, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest.” This is when I realized joy and peace comes from Him and believing in Him. When I started my tiny seed in believing in God and I casted all my cares onto him.  Casted my entire financial mess on him, and I began to see a financial uplift in my life. I casted my overspending self to him, and my mountain of debt to him too.

Can I tell you another secret, he wants you to do the same thing!

I want you to try this for yourself, cast all your cares onto him.

Here are some examples:

  • I don’t even know where to start with my finances. Help!
  • My company is going through so many changes and I don’t know if I am secured.  Please give me hope.
  • I keep spending my money on XYZ – show me to at least give to another person or organization.
  • I was on track with finances, but want to fully put all the pieces together. Give me wisdom.
  • My husband doesn’t want to get on the program of budgeting with me. Please show me how I can improve to educate, give him wisdom, and desire to want to make a financial difference.  (I learned this the hard way. You cannot change people.  You can only change you – God can change people)

He is strong and can handle it all. Last one,

  • Lord, help me. I don’t know what I am missing. Show me what to do. Help me enter rest.

Personally, I want you to be happy and I know you can do this through the Lord and by reading a daily devotional. If the Lord has pointed you to us, we love that he works through us. We recommend the Back to Basic course or 1:1 Remote Budget Coaching. We have been through tough times financially and understand the step of faith. We took keep taking big steps of faith for you!

Exercise Your Body.

There is something about going for a walk to let out all emotions released into the air that helps you get your finances in order.

If I get very scientific on you – it is your endorphins which reduces the perception of worry.  Letting your mind forget about all the finances and start fresh. I know you want to start fresh or you would not have stumbled upon Believe and Budget.

Jazzercise

I created a second income with exercise, and it was something I enjoyed doing in that season of life.  I started teaching Jazzercise, a cardio and strength class, I taught 3 to 4 times a week when I was in the middle of debt.  This helped me keep my mind off of spending money and my mind on my health, music, and hanging out with the right friends.  For some reason, I always wanted to budget after my 4 PM Sunday Jazzercise class too.  I told my money where to go then because I had the right mood and was motivated with my endorphins on high! To this day, I still exercise!  I have met some amazing ladies throughout teaching Jazzercise and I love it.

Be happy and get your sweat on too.

Find a place you love to work out; don’t just pay somewhere and not go. This is a budget oops many people do. They join a weight watchers program, barre class, or beach body and do not utilize it. Please utilize it if you pay for it.

Daily dose of balanced breakfast. Coffee or Tea!

If your finances aren’t where you wish they were, this will help you get both your food budget in place and a smile from ear to ear.  Eating daily dose of a balanced breakfast is vital in success since it starts your metabolism, helps you burn calories, and gives you energy!

Be a multi-tasker when making your breakfast.

Get out the pot, put water in it, crack some salt in it and turn on the heat before you jump in the shower. Once you get out of the shower the water is boiling, place the two eggs in it, and if you have someone else with you do five, three for them and two for you.  Boil them for about 10 min enough time for you to put your clothes on and start doing your routine of getting ready. Then go out to the kitchen, turn off the stove – eggs are done and need to cool and finish cooking. Make the coffee or tea in the Keurig or make a homemade latte. This is a balanced breakfast and perfect for your meal plan.

Meal Planning Kit

Learn the way to make grocery shopping less of a hassle. Find the secrets to turn your pantry items into meals. Dominate grocery shopping and meal planning finally. Take the guessing game out of what’s for dinner. What do you get? Meal Planning Templates you can use over and over again! Cashless Envelopes to get your grocery budget improved! Your Choice of Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly Planning! For less than, $20 you can change your grocery budget for life!

$19.99

Here is the bonus point of this success:

This tip helps with staying on budget!!

As you guys know, Starbucks, was my budget breaker in college, so I invested in a home-made latte maker.  I did not want to go to Starbucks and spend $5 on a latte each day.

Grocery stores love to have a competitive prices on eggs and therefore you can find eggs for a cheap price usually .99 cent to $1.49 for 18 count. For $2 -$3 a week, you have breakfast rather than $7 when you go through a drive thru.

Here are other posts to inspire you:
Write your plan for the day.

Sitting down to write down your plan for the day will start your day off to success and financially success too.  It will make you feel more positive when you get those items done. Plus imagine you are somewhere with a beautiful view like the photo above when you are writing your plans down. It helps you mood!

I love to be able to prevent problems from happening, planning how to solve problems, and how to improve each day.

My day is the most successful when I see the big picture and write down 3 to 5 items I need to do to help me in the future. For example, in my financial mess, the big picture was becoming debt free to be able to give more to people who need it rather than giving my money to loans and interest.

If you have credit card debt of $6,000, a car loan of $11,000, student loan debt of $12,500, and a mortgage of $135k, assuming a 5% rate, you would pay $8,500 in interest every year! Now think hard about that. What could you do with $8,500 each year!! Yes, so start writing down like I did.

I wrote down 3 to 5 things I could do weekly (Short Term Goals). We teach this also in our Back to Basic course, so this is just a preview for you today.

  • Only go to Starbucks once a week
  • In the winter, turn down my heat to 65 degrees
  • Drink more water daily to save on both my wallet and my waist
  • Review my bank account to ensure I was going in the right direction

At the beginning, I was the worst at these, but over time it got easier and easier because it became a habit. Every time you are having a “bad” day, stop and see what you have accomplished for the day.  Get back on track to your plan at the beginning of the day or the week.  Jump right back in and do not give up. While having a bad day is possible, it is more achievable to keep a smile on your face when you use these 5 morning routines.  Along with having debt is not fun, but paying down your debt is once you get started! Strive to be debt free because I know you can do it!

Start with these 5 morning routines that can change your life to the best life!

Budget Break Down

This post may contain affiliate links, and they are no cost to you!

Want to know how to budget, but don’t want no one to know you don’t really know how? We have you covered!  You will be able to deep dive into your own budget step by step with us and you won’t have to tell anyone you do not know how to officially budget.  We will simply break it down for you and we won’t tell a sole.  You got this because knowledge is key.  You learned basic stuff in school and how to think and strategize, now let’s take what you know from school and learn the stuff they should have taught us in school.

Bring me the Money! (Income)

We will call this section – bring me the money! This is your income. You are bringing in the money into your home. Think about all the money you could make from your job, career, or your side hustle.  You could also think about bringing in more money in areas you have not started to yet too think of things that you are really good at that people brag about you.  For example, I am a really good budgeter and people always ask me to coach them through their budget to make it work better for them.  My husband makes jewelry; he has a really great art talent and I am seriously jealous of!  My bestie she is really good at making candles and even canning vegetables.  Now ask me to do either of those two, I will tell you I will stick to paying her for those items. These are all ways to make additional money and reach your goals faster!

List out the name of your incomes and then the total right by it.  This will be the estimation of course at the beginning of the month. We have an attractive budget sheet if you would love to purchase it for $2.99 that you can use month after month if you would like. Get it here. (The bullet budget journal works for incomes that are weekly, biweekly, monthly, and even commission/entrepreneurial income)

5 Minute Break Down:

Take 5 minutes and list your bring me the money aka your income.

Why we take a 5 minute break down because in James 1:25 “…if you listen and obey, and don’t just hear (read) and forget.” this has taught me so much when I read blog posts, the bible, or even a good book that I must understand it and not forget it.  It is your way to listen, and take action right away to make a difference in the world. You are reading this post for a reason to either learn how to budget or to learn one nugget from us.  Have an open mind – it’s the best way to be a life-long learner.

Have an open mind – it is the best way to be a life-long learner.

Believe and Budget
Have an abundant (Giving)

In the world, to have an abundant life is to take, take, take, and keep it all to ourselves, but in God’s kingdom he wants us to give, give, give, and you will have an abundant.  This is why we call our giving section – have an abundant.  In Matthew 13:1 – 23, it is the story of the farmer and how Jesus used the story of the farmer to tell others about how to produce a harvest.  He said some seeds (people) will here the message and not understand. Some will hear it and accept it, but don’t last long because their behaviors will go back to the old. Some will hear it and then start to worry because they want to be rich. And the very best will hear and understand and produce a huge harvest.

I want you to be the ones who hear how to budget and understand it to produce a huge harvest and to have an abundant life rather than budget to just become rich for yourself.

Think of something you love. Something that you really value. What do you want to give value you in on this earth? What do you believe in? Deep in your heart believe in?  For me, we value the simple things we take for granted such as a job, clean water, and food to eat every day so something I wanted to add value in the world was a little girl before I had my own kid.  I sponsor a child, Mari, and she has been my world for the past several years. I get to spoil her, write to her, and encourage her. What else do we give to? National Parks, Church, gifts to others to make their hearts feel loved.

There is so much you can give to.

Believe and Budget

List out what you want to give to, and then take your income multiple by .10. This is the goal to get to and exceed.  Right now, you might think I am crazy.  You might even stop reading because you are thinking I cannot even afford my bills let alone give that much.  Remember that story of the farmer and how to produce a harvest.  It doesn’t make sense to give our income away in the world, but in God’s kingdom it does and when you start to you will produce so much more than you could even imagine!  Don’t believe me? Test it out for a month or three months and see what starts happening in your life.  If you give and have faith, you will see so much goodness come through you. I encourage you so much because I have seen it work so many times. Don’t be like a flower that will fade away, but be more like God who gives so much to us that he gave his only son.

5 Minute Break Down:

Take 5 minutes and list your giving to be able to have an abundance in your life too!

Blessings

This section on our Bullet Budget Journal is where we place all the things that have happened to us for the month that were blessings to us.  The harvest in our life.  We write these down to be able to come back to them to really be thankful for all the greatness in our life when our life is in the middle of the process and well we are in the storm. You know storms happen even to us. Storms happen because they are allowing us to grow and learn in the process and get us ready for the next level.

5 Minute Break Down:

Take 5 minutes and write down all your blessings for the month.  You can do this for last month at the beginning of the month or at the end of the month.  I bet you have more blessings in your life than you realize.  Think hard about it.

Make a plan and write it down (Savings)

In your budget, a very important thing to do is pay yourself first and save your money.  We like to include in our savings our investments too.  This is all in one, but not that it is even before our expenses or our bills.  Why do we do this?  Because when you make a plan and write it down it will happen.  God loves when we write down our plans and tell him it because then he will find a way to make it happen in your life if you believe it.

This has happened us to multiple times. I want to share with you a few to inspire you. The first time, I left my job in Nebraska to move to North Carolina, I wanted to be debt free but I also wanted to pay cash for a car.  I wrote down Pay for a Car with Cash in my budget and the amount I could save, which was not very much at the time because well I just quit my job. I was making nothing, but then as I waited patiently I received promotion after promotion and paid cash for my car (my dream car). The second time, I left my career in Virginia to be a stay at home mom, I wanted to be home payment free and reach a net worth of $200k. I was making nothing, my husband was indeed bringing in the income and I had to learn not only patience, but submission to my husband. This is really hard for many women who are millennials. I am sure you can relate. Just like the paying for a car with cash saving goal, we reached the net worth savings goal too.

Habakkuk 2: 2-3 “Write it clearly enough to be read at a glance. You can trust what I say about the future. It may take a long time, but keep on waiting – it will happen!”

Now, here is what I want you to do.  Write down some big dreams or goals you want to achieve whether it is to save up for your wedding, retirement, car, boat, side-by-side, vacations, childrens future, medical, etc. Then go ahead and figure out how much you need total for those goals. Write that down. Then decide how long you are going to take on these goals (short, medium or long term). Write down how much you need to save each month in the section next to each dream/goal.

When you do this you will see big things happen in your life. You will of course need boldness and courage with this step especially if you are used to doing this not at all or last after your expenses.  I used to say things like “I am to young to think about retirement, but then I thought to myself, no, no I am not. I can start doing anything I want.” Do not be afraid of big goals take the next step. Go and tell other people what you are saving for.  It will bring excitement to your life!  Next time someone asks, hey let’s go get manicures because I’ve had a hard day.  You can say, “Sorry, I would love to go, but I am saving up for my dream and I have allocated my money to that goal this month!  I would love to go walk at a park instead or you can come over and we can do our nails at my place.” If you need help, I will lend my hand to you and help you in our 1:1 Coaching Session.  We can talk about your goals, get you encouraged, and excited to reach for them. You got this! Let’s rise and rebuild a new way of budgeting!

Pay your expenses (Bills)

Yes, our bills are on the low part of our budget, but why is this? Do bills make people happy, no. It is a way the devil gets in our heads here on earth.  (well that’s truly what I believe!) I have seen so many people upset, sad, worried, and fearful from their bills and that is just not what God wants for you in your life. So let’s dive into your expenses.

We want to try to make your expenses the least thing on your worry list.  We want to minimize this so the devils not winning in your life. You might be in a little bit of trouble with your bills or they might be knocking you down, but this is no way to feel to give up on the matter.  We want you to know we will not let you down.  We want you to have a healthy budget and love your budget.  Let’s talk about expenses and how to name them. Have fun with it!

Mortgage – name it “My Castle”

Utilities – name it “Let there be light”

Phone Bill – name it “Gives me friends”

Student loan debt – name it “Powerful knowledge”

Etc. you get the picture.  Name it something that you know and love and brings you joy.  That is why the Bullet Budget Journal is customizable because we needed something in our budget that would bring us joy instead of the feeling all we had were bills at the beginning of our journey.

Other bills people often have are subscriptions, (Amazon, Body Builders, Hulu, Disney +, Netflix, Costco), cars, boats, RVs, toys, furniture, etc.

Go ahead and write down your bills.

Enjoy your journey and have some spending money!

5 Minute Break Down:

Be realistic in this area because you won’t want to say you are only going to spend $50 on something and then blow it out of the water and really spend $150! It will just make yourself feel bad and hate budgeting.

How it feels to have paid off your home

This post may contain affiliate links, and they are no cost to you!

Ever feel like you cannot reach your money goals? We understand! We had been in exactly your shoes, and unfortunately we did not have anyone to really see that this is possible. No one in the tiny living community lives a budget life that we found during the middle of our journey. We tell you about our journey and how it truly feels once you have a home paid off!! We will show you how and why not to give up on your goals! The end is in sight for you and you will feel better about your life with these fabulous emotions coming your way! It is for the best! Get reading today to be inspired to reach your money goals like paying off your home!

1. The battle will end, and you will feel joyful!

The feelings of not being burdened with a payment for your home is amazing.  I never thought that we would get to this place when we were in the moment.  It felt like it was a battle.  It was more than a battle, but it was a battle with the mind thinking we will never get there.  The good thing is when we saw the horizon, and we reached it and it is so joyful!  We have opened up $1,150 to save and give now.  We love to bless others and even on our journey we fully believed in giving. But now we get to give so much more and see people have joy on their face because we poured out our hearts with more love.

You might be in the battle too right now, but I can tell you through our story. We have been in your shoes. We know the battle is hard. It feels like you are alone, but let me tell you. You are not alone and you can do it! The joy once your done paying your burden is the best feeling ever!

2. The Final Destination – Excitement

The excitement in the last 3 months is unreal.  I kept praying and praying that God would make this goal of ours come true, and it really did. He made it come true, and even paved the path without any murphy’s knocking at our door.  I can only give the glory to God for the excitement that he has done for us to be able to pay off our home.

When you reach those last milestones of your burden, of your debts, and you are in eye sight of your final destination what you have been trying to get too. You will feel the excitement! You will know that it was not totally impossible like everyone tells you. You are amazing — keep going you can do it!

3. You will understand when it happens — A miracle

Most people believe that you will always have a house payment, and always be in debt.  However, God does not want you broke.  He wants you to be rich so you can bless the poor.  When you are rich, you can do so much more happiness with your money.  It is truly a miracle you guys, and you can be there too!

Yes, we have gone the nontraditional route of living tiny in an RV, but that is because of a few reasons.  We wanted to travel and see the world before we retire and turned 65.  We want our kids to enjoy the world and see the history and the world that God has beautifully created.  It is a miracle that we are all here and doing these things on earth.  We could not have paid off our home if it were not for the Lord guiding us.  He tested our faith during the middle of the storm.  I let go of my job in the middle of it, so we really paid off our home with on income!  Guess what, we aren’t even making 6 figures! You can make this miracle for yourself if you just believe!

The Bible shows us a bunch of miracles God has done, and he does them in your life too. Think about to when you did not think you were going to make it, and you did. When we believe and have faith, a miracle will happen for you too! If you have not seen a miracle, try spending some time reading the Bible or find yourself a good devotional. We have a 15 day devotional you can try to build your relationship closer to God here.

4. Memories Made

The memories we made are so unreal, and yes. We made this dream come true with in a middle of a pandemic! It was like God opened the sea for us to do this.  We still traveled all the time while we were paying off our home.  We found deals to travel. We still went out on date night and had fun. We did not let paying off our home deprive us of having fun! We even had fun on the holidays!

We choose how to budget our money and the actions we took by having us two help each other out during the tough times helped.  A budget sometimes means you get creative of how you spend your money.  We spend less food than the average person, but we still each like a champ!  I mean we had weeks we are even eating 3 meals with shrimp!  We eat a lot of salad and marked down meat yes, but you can too!  I think the best memories made during the journey is meal planning, because we were able to come up with meals as a family together that we all enjoy!  We specially made our meal planning guide for you all because we have many people who want the design of it.  Click here to get yours. The meal planning is so easy to use and helps you create less waste, create more memories around your dinner table, and it makes it fun to dominate your money goals!

You can create memories while you are paying off your debt too.  One thing we love during our journey is we used our bullet budget journal to track all of our blessings and the blessings we were able to do for other people during our journey. Remember it is not all about the money, but it is about the last memories and the legacy you get to leave for the earth.

2 Year ANNIVERSARY of Living Tiny — We STILL LOVE IT!

This post may contain affiliate links, and they are no cost to you!

We want to share with you something that is not common in the United States, but is growing more and more popular – tiny living.  We took the plunge and wanted to live our dream early rather than waiting until we were 65 years old. As I am writing this, well a little late, but our 2 year anniversary of tiny living has passed us up and we are excited that we have made huge financial moves too. Cheers to our 2 years anniversary of living tiny! We share how living tiny has helped us financially, and living tiny could help you too! Let us show you what we have done to hopefully inspire you too!

1. Home Payment Free

We sent a goal for us to pay off our 2013 Thor Motorcoach RV in 2 years, and we made it in 2 years and 2 months.  A little over our goal, but we did it!  We were able to make it happen on one income.  My husbands.  I left my job at Kroger and became a stay at home mom, and we were still able to pay our RV off 100%.  We are free of a payment for a roof over our heads, and let me tell you $1,150 towards savings is the best feeling in the entire world!  It is so unreal.  It is a dream come true.

You can do this too!  You can become home payment free too!

Next, goal to pay cash for a sticks and bricks home.

2. One Income Domination

Many times, in the world, having both parents work these days is normal.  However, God wanted me to stay home, and he was very clear about this path choice. I can still remember him telling me first and me ignoring this advice.  I kept questioning it.  I was like really? You want me to just leave my job that I have works so hard to move up.  You want me to stay at home and do what? I am sure you’ve had those moments of questioning your path too. I cannot be the only one, which is why I am sharing it with you.

Then my husband came to me too and said, “I think you are supposed to stay home with our baby.”  I thought maybe I am not as crazy as I thought I was, and I was hearing it right.  Maybe, I am supposed to take this leap of faith and leave my job and stay home.  All the questioning.  All the are you sure?  It was really going to happen. I am not sure if you’ve been here but if you have… trust your faith.

Tiny living has helped us be able to live on one income as comfortable as we can be. It has allowed us to still travel and see the world.  It has allowed us to pay off our RV 100%.  It has still allowed us to go home and see family every 3 months, which brings me to the next point in our financial journey.

3. Family is the Most Important

Everyone of course chooses to live tiny for different reasons. I know another family who lives tiny because her husband travels for work and this allows for them to travel when he does.  They just have to push a few buttons on their trailer and go with him.  He gets to see the kids grow up, and see his wife each night!

For us, family is important to us too.  We get to live tiny, paid it off 100%, plus still get to buy airplane tickets to go home 2 to 3 times a year. If we lived in a home with a big house payment or had a car with a car payment this of course could not be possible for us to do this.

When you live far away from family being able to travel to see them is important!  No matter how far away you live, you can still be close to your family!

4. Grew our Networth

This is something that is very important to us because we want to leave an impact on our legacy.  We want to leave our child without the burden of having to worry about money to take care of us while we are old.  We want to leave our child with a peace of mind that they will be on a great starting point for their own financial future.

We grew our networth by +430%! Yes, we said that correctly. 430% in two years! How?

Yes, we paid off our RV so that was a huge increases, but we also kept investing in our 401(k), Health Savings Account (HSA), and our Roth IRA.

We did not have any car payments or credit card debt or other outstanding loans.  We decided what we wanted to do with our money with a budget and get to enjoy seeing the states. The natural beauty God created and still yes still grow our networth!

Bonus:

Don’t you have to pay for spots each time you travel?

Yes, we do, but we have a main spot we stay in Virginia.  We posted a craiglist ad out there and asked for land to rent from.  When we did this, we negotiated. Yes, this is the BEST way to save money and make a difference in your finances. You can do this anywhere and everywhere! If they say no, move on to the next spot and ask!

We negotiated the rent to be $360 per month plus we would pay for utilities. Once I stayed home though, we negotiated the utilities too!  Now, we work off our utilities!  Our utilities usually cost anywhere from $40 to $120 in the winter.  Now, this is a savings for us! Sometimes we even work extra to get free rent too!
